Championship Show 2017 - Judge Gabriela van Ruiten Hajnová

It was a great honour for me to judge at the first championship show of the UK Cesky Terrier Club and I was really pleased with the high entry of 41 dogs.

My Best in Show is close to a perfect picture of a Cesky Terrier: a well made & well muscled hunting terrier in a well-groomed show jacket. I’m sure she could win anywhere, even in the country of origin of the breed.

Junior Dog:
1st Cat. Nr. 33: Janski Promises Jones
Very well presented young dog, not as confident in this rather noisy hall as I would like to see, but with a lot of qualities. Correct size & proportions; very nice outlines; long, masculine head with slightly larger ears, scissor bite; elegant neck, correct slightly arched loins; well set& well carried tail; easy mover with good reach; nice silky coat, very well groomed, good colour for his age
2nd Cat. Nr. 15: Janski Philosopher Dajaces
Young dog with a great temperament, presented to the perfection; correct proportions, but his size is unfortunately too large; strong masculine head, expression would be much better with smaller ears; scissor bite, would prefer a higher number of premolars. Elegant neck, just enough arch over de loins, correct rather low set tail. Correct placement of the shoulder; slightly out at the elbows, caused by bit wide front, which could be more straight. Brisk movement. Correct silky coat, good colour for his age.

Post graduate dog
1st Cat. Nr. 6: Ashleyheath’s Dark Cloud
Somewhat feminine-looking dog, of excellent size; not very confident in the ring Prefer a bit longer head; nice, medium sized ears; scissor bite. Correct topline with elegant neck and arch over the loins; well set tail & well angulated with a good reach in the movement. Coat of correct silky structure, but not in the best condition and grooming. I still see enough quality and type.

Limit dog
1st Cat. Nr. 29: Janksi Ossie Jones at Polede
Very well presented, selfconfident, masculine dog of excellent proportions and outlines. Long, strong head, ears slightly  larger, scissor bite. Very nice topline: going fluently from elegant neck, well set in the shoulders, over well ribbed brisket, strong, slightly arched loins to the correct rather low set tail. Moves very well, in rear better than in the front. Beautiful pale silky coat Reserve Dog CC
2nd Cat. Nr. 35: Janski Miloslav
Another very well presented dog in a great showcondition. Correct size and proportions, strong masculine head with very nice ears and scissor bite. Elegant neck, correct shoulders and nice, slightly arched topline with rather low tailset. Just a fraction wide in the front, moves well both going and coming. Nice silky coat, would prefer more clear colour.
3rd Cat. Nr. 7: Ashleyheath’s Blacken Rain
Dog who took my attention with his temperament and confidence. He has just the right size and proportions. Masculine head with nice, medium sized ears and scissor bite. Elegant neck, correct shoulders, topline with just enough arch over de loins, slightly higher tailset & tailcarriage at movement. Moves very well. Quality coat, would prefer better grooming.

Open dog
1st Cat. Nr. 9: Ashleyheath’s Black Thunder
Medium sized, clearly masculine dog with a great temperament. Well balanced of correct type and proportions. Strong, masculine head which fits the body; very nice medium sized ears and strong scissor bite. Elegant neck, correct shoulders, topline with just enough arch over de loins and correct tailset. Very well angulated in front and rear; brisk movement. Dark, silky coat, would prefer better grooming.  Dog CC, Reserve Best in Show
2nd Cat. Nr. 21: Idefix Daybreak at Gayteckels
Very well presented, confident dog of correct proportions, but unfortunately his size is too large. Strong masculine head,  ears fit the size of the head, strong scissor bite. Neck could be more elegant, topline with a correct arched loins and rather low tailset. At movement slightly higher tailcarriage. Well ribbed brisket, wide front. Moves very well. Quality coat, correct grooming.

Veteran dog
1st Cat. Nr. 41: Captain Crochet du Champ d’Eole
This 10 year dog is showing like a prof, calm and confident. Excellent condition for his age. Correct size and proportions. Nice masculine head, correct medium sized ears. Good reach of the neck, prefer little bit longer shoulderblade. Slightly rising topline, correct tailset. At movement bit narrow in front and rear. OK for coatquality.
 Reserve Best Veteran
2nd Cat. Nr. 17: Komidion Nickleodeon avec Dajaces
Best presented dog; I really like his temperament, but unfortunately his size is too large. Strong, long masculine head with nice ears and scissor bite. Good reach of the neck, the topline is rather flat with a higher tailset. Little bit wide in the front, very well angulated. Brisk movement. Silky coat very well groomed.

Puppy bitch
1st Cat. Nr. 8: Shasgav Nothing Else Matters by Ashleyheath
Selfconfident puppy, her development is not finished yet (especially her brisket needs more depth), of excellent type, size and proportions. Feminine head, slightly large ears, scissor bite. Elegant neck, nice topline with correct arched loins and rather low tailset, tailcarriage is slightly higher at movement. Moves very well, slightly loose which is OK for her age. Correct coat.

The Cesky Terrier Club Special Awards Classes

Sunday 30th July 2017 - Judge: Maria Clark (Canequiss)

First of all I would like to say a huge thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge. It was an honour to judge at the first Cesky Terrier Championship Show! Overall the quality of the breed was good which made my decisions difficult!

Special Junior (6,5)
1st – Mrs S.J Fewings’ Komidion Passionata
What wasn’t to love about this young bitch!! Upon entry into the ring she caught my eye. At only 12 months old her head is very typical of the breed. Overall, this young bitch has a beautiful outline. She had the strongest head of the class. Very nice head with well set ears. Lovely strong neck of good length with the desired slightly loose skin at her throat. Well muscled, well laid shoulders. Good fore and hind quarters, Lovely topline with a slight rise over her well-arched loin. Well sprung ribs with a good tuck up. Well set tail which is carried well on the move. One of the best movements of today. She moved with plenty of drive and showed off the true Cesky movement.
