The Cesky Terrier Club 13/07/24
It was an honour to judge my adopted breed at a club show for the first time with tickets. I do feel discussions need to be had with regards to size in the breed, although the standard does not specify a size per say, it was the father of the breed Mr Horak himself who commented the smaller cesky should be favoured. My principle winners did all vary in size, however what they all had in common was the true outline, a level of elegance, and looked nothing like a Scottish Terrier or Sealyham Terrier. The Cesky started out from those two breeds, and for me they should look like neither. We should have a level of elegance, and breeders and judges alike should consider this. For me heavier bulkier dogs would not carry out their role as successfully as the sleeker and more agile Cesky, and as judges we should consider fitness for purpose.
Puppy dog (1,0)
1st Tobijanski’s Janski Dupek Zak. 8 months old, excelled in head and dentition, lovely balanced line of neck to well laid shoulders, complimenting a well made front assembly, showed typical gradual rise over the loin, well set tail, and well muscled rear quarters, with sufficient angulation. Moved with drive and purpose, in the final challenge just showing that bit more than the bitch winner. Best Puppy In Show.
Novice dog (1,0)
1st Janski Dupec Zac.
Post Grad dog (1,0)
1st Richardson’s Talyot Otto. 2 year old dark grey boy, who I admired very much, sadly was unable to fully assess movement today. Outstanding strong typically male head, with excellent dentition of large teeth, well set ears, and good reach of muscled neck into well laid shoulders, still presenting the elegance as well as strength, outstanding muscle tone, and general condition throughout. Again, sadly did not show his movement today, but my word he caught my attention.
Limit dog (2,0)
1st Samson’s Talyot Magnus To Silak. Excellent for size and general outline, good in head and dentition, excelled in line of neck to well laid shoulders, well conditioned throughout, presenting a dog that could easily do a days work, moved with drive and purpose, and breed typical propulsion, keeping topline on move. He was certainly a contender.
2nd Richardson’s Talyot Norman. Larger framed dark grey male, but still very balanced, and muscled throughout without being over the top with regards to general outline and size. Strongest of heads and good dentition, a little unsettled on the move, but moved showing good drive and propulsion, a very well put together dog.
Open Dog (5,0)
1st Richardson’s Wherrypoint Daffyd Talyot. Stunning outline of a dark grey boy, strongest of heads, excellent dentition, well conditioned throughout, strongly made yet elegant neck into well laid shoulders, well off for bone, deep in chest, excellent strong rear angulation, moved with perfect propulsion and drive keeping his lovely outline on the move, showing effortless movement. Happy to award him CC #3, stunning boy. Did not give the best effort in the final challenge, but was strongly considered.
2nd Burrage’s Sametova Bacary. Pale boy. Not the strongest of heads, but presents a lovely expression, good in dentition, nice line of neck to well laid shoulders, clean in front and presents the typical outline, well proportioned rear quarters, moved with drive and purpose keeping his topline on the move.
3rd Tobijanski’s CH Janski O’rolox JW. Good looking boy, typical in head and expression, shorter in neck than others, good lay of shoulder, well muscled throughout in excellent general condition, moved with drive and purpose
Veteran dog (2,0)
1st England & Burrage’s CH Ashleyheath’s Black Thunder ShCM ShCEx VW. Utterly stunning in outline, of ideal size and balance, and at 11 years old still challenging the youngsters for top awards, and rightly so. This boy has given the breed a lot, as his progeny proved today. Excels in head, and still perfect dentition, most elegant of necks with strength, excellent front assembly and well laid shoulders, well conditioned throughout, with the perfect gradual rise over his loin. Moved with drive and purpose keeping that topline on the move. RCC.
2nd Marrett’s Jer CH Idefix Day Break at Gayteckels (KCJ). Nearly 11 years old light grey boy, larger of build but excellent in balance, strong head and good dentition, well set ears, and lovely expression, strongest of necks to well laid shoulders, strongly made rear quarters, which propel him round the ring in excellent general balance.
Puppy bitch (3,0)
1st Marrett’s Foxprims Marble Arch avec Gayteckels. 11 months silver girl, good in head and ear set, good dentition, and expression, good dark eye. Lovely line of neck to well laid shoulders, showing both strength and elegance, lovely rise of loin, strong rear quarters, moved with super drive and propulsion when fully cooperative with handler. Reserve Best Puppy In Show.
2nd Tobijanski’s Janski Zara Zipporah. Dark grey, smaller in head, and fantastic dentition, ok in line of neck, well laid shoulders, shows a typical outline, and strong rear quarters, moved well.
3rd Fairfield’s Janski Zelda. Litter sister to 2, prettiest of heads, good dentition, good set of ear however ears are larger and presented as heavy. Beautiful line of neck to well laid shoulders, and shows elegant outline, good rear quarters, moved well.
Graduate bitch (1,0)
1st Samson’s Silak Never Miss A Beat. Strongest of heads, with a feminine expression, excellent set of ears and dentition, strong yet elegant neck to well laid shoulders, shows typical rise over the loin, good for general condition, and moves with excellent drive and propulsion. Youngster with a bright future.
Post Graduate bitch (1,0)
1st Kirk-Ashby’s Moraira Alena. 3 year old girl, very nervous, could do with socialisation. Excellent head assembly, and most graceful of neck lines, typical outline, moved with excellent drive and propulsion.
Limit bitch (3,0)
1st Samson’s Silak Shazgav Sound of Silence ShCM ShCEx. This girl not long into her veteran years shows one of the most desirable outlines in the breed, very balanxced throughout. Strong in head and excellent dentition, elegant and balanced reach of neck to well laid shoulders, sound in front and rear assembly, moved with outstanding drive and purpose. CC and BOB.
2nd Burrage’s Komidion Sonata for Sametova JW. Elegant girl, excellent in head and good dentition, good line of neck to well laid shoulders, moved well with good drive and purpose, but did lean in on the centre mat.
3rd Pratt’s Proxima Centuari. Strongly made bitch, strong head and excellent dentition, nice reach of neck to well laid shoulders, overall well balanced, and shows excellent typical outline, was rather sluggish of movement today.
Open bitch (6,0)
1st Burrage’s CH Komidion Prima Donna of Sametova ShCEx VW. Very stunning in outline, excels in head and good dentition, lovely elegant reach of neck to well laid shoulders, gentle rise over the loin, showing further elegant features, to a real showgirl. Strong rear quarters and well set tail, moved with excellent balance, drive and purpose, keeping that elegant silhoutte of an outline on the move, fully at one with her handler. RCC and Reserve Best in Show.
2nd Tobijanski’s CH Janski Yamizzabl Witch JW. Very attractive girl, excellent in general outline and balance, moved with drive and purpose, shows a strong typical head and good dentition.
3rd Kirk-Ashby’s Komidion Rhythm at Moraira. My class winner at first glance, very elegant in outline, excellent for size and balance, good in head and excellent dentition, shows a fantastic outline stood and on the move with her young handler, however I was unable to fully assess on the table.
Veteran bitch (2,0)
1st Samson’s Silak Shasgav My Immortal. Very elegant dark grey bitch, excellent in head and dentition, most elegant of necks into well laid shoulders, sound in front and rear quarters, and has likely the best typical outline of the day, moved with drive and purpose. Today not presented in the best muscle tone, if she had of been today could have been a different story.
2nd Marrett’s Gayteckels Sister Act (KCJ). Larger framed girl, but still very balanced. OK in head, for me needed more definition under her eyes, good dentition, good reach of neck to well laid shoulders, shows lovely rise over her loin, and moved well.
